A hike to Taal's crater

Trying new adventures is one of our goal. So when her sister invited us to join their class' hiking to Taal volcano, we immediately said "YES". Not knowing much about hiking, what to bring and what not to bring, we still went along with her sisters, Camille, Charmaine & Charlene, Charmaine's friend and of course the whole geology class of UP. :)

Thankfully, this hike was supposed to be more of educational than extreme adventure. So even with our not so appropriate hiking attires and not so prepared physique, we did just fine. By fine, I mean tons and tons and tons of sweat, regret and muscle pain. Really tiring. Nevertheless, we all survived and enjoyed the view Taal has to offer --the crater filled with sulfuric green water and orangy rocks, the small mountains surrounding the crater, the black sand covering some parts of the mountain, the lake filled with floating houses, and the birds flying over the lake.

This impromptu experience was a blessing. It opened a door for us to the world of hiking. We'll definitely do this again. 'Til the next real climb!

The day we met and  fell inlove with "Hiking."

Some facts about Taal:
Taal volcano is the smallest active volcano in the whole world and the second most active volcano in the Philippines. It lies near the center of Taal lake. Taal's trail difficulty level is 2 out of 9, 9 as the most difficult.

Hike Date: September 09, 2013
Budget: P1000.00 (back and forth bus fare) + P200.00 (breakfast and lunch) = approx. P1,200.00
